Hi, I have a 14th/15th century medieval ring made from medieval silver plated with gold. It was found in Bulgaria but might be British. The band is slightly bent but other than that it is in almost perfect condition.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me more about this ring or how much it may be worth. I have an idea that it may have been used to contain "keepsakes".

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The description I gave is from the person I bought it off. What he told me is all he knew.

"Medieval silver plated with gold." I would be sceptical of that claim until I'd asked a goldsmith for his opinion. He might also be able to make an educated guess about its age and origin. If that claim IS true I think it has considerable value but I'm unable to make even a wild guess.

As for what this item purports to be, I will first of all need to know if the cylinder can be opened or not.

i think you should have it appraised and tell us what the appraisal says,..... it would be a good education for us all
